New Delhi: In a snub to the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) administration, the Allahabad High Court quashed its decision to suspend Mohammad Adil Hossain, a final year student of Mass Communication at AMU, citing violation of “principles of natural justice” in the way the university handled Adil’s case.

In the judgment dated 14th of this month, “refusing access to the witnesses and evidences” were among many other reasons which the HC cited before quashing the suspension order by the Discipline Committee and the Executive Council of AMU.

“This is the victory of democracy and justice,” said Adil, while talking to TwoCircles.net from Aligarh.

The HC further asked the AMU authorities to conduct a fresh inquiry which should be completed as soon as possible but not later than 8 weeks. In the meantime, Adil shall be treated under suspension and shall be allowed to pursue his course in Mass Communication. The University will allow him to complete the same, if it ultimately exonerates him.

Mohammad Adil Hossain, 22, was suspended and banned from the university campus in June this year for tarnishing “the image of the university by resorting to and misusing the internet.”
