The conference was attended by Muslims and non-Muslims both ladies and gents. The conference was conducted under the presidentship of MMK Tirupur District Secretary Halideen.

Besides these, nearly 20 resolutions were passed at the conference. Some of them are: 100% reservation taking accurate census of different communities and reservation to be based on the strength of the population, Implementation of Ranganath Misra recommendation all the job opportunities both in Central Government and State Governments, Equality in Democracy, Concern over Australia’s strained relationship, Total Prohihibition of the liquor sale, Banning the online trading.

J. Hyder Ali, the District Executive in his speech said that the people attending the conference are true cadres of the party, not brought here with money power.

In his keynote address, Prof. M.H. Jawahirullah stressed that there should be total prohibition on the sale of liquor in the State. He drew the attention of the gathering the event in Madina which happened 1400 years ago, when a call came from Allah that the wine should be banned (Holy Quran 5:90 warning against Intoxicants and gambling) the people got awareness and “crushed all the barrels of wines in the street, and the streets were deluged with nasty drinks”. He cited an example how ruthless a man becomes when he is intoxicated.

He said the dominance or leadership of one social group or nation over others is not wise. “Never copy the policy of the USA and do not kneel down to US hegemony.” He heavily came down on the government for agrarian lands being converted into real estate dominance. “The agricultural lands have been shrunk. This is the main reason for the soaring price.”

He said his party will contest under own banner. He expressed happiness at victory of three councilors who have been elected within a short period of time and out of them one is an auto rickshaw driver. The MMK elected councilors are: Yasir Arafat of Lalpet, Cuddalore Town Panchayat, Cuddalore District, Nellai Mohammad, Councillor Tenkasi Municipal Corporation (Auto Ricksahaw Driver), Ovaise Thiruvidangode, Councillor Taluk Panchayat Kanniyakumari Dist.
He said his party men are clean now and will remain so always. The declared property will remain the same and theirs is the open book always. He said that his party is the conglomeration of different faiths such as Hindus, Jains, Dalits and others. “MMK is not only for Muslims. It is for all those who have faith in democracy and equality.”

He stressed that Ranganath Misra’s recommendations should be implemented in letter and spirit.

Prof. Jawahirullah declared that on March 07, 2010 the party cadres will picket in front of all TASMAC liquor shops in the state if Tamil Nadu Government does not heed to the call of total prohibition as resolved in the conference.
