New Delhi: How popular is Ghalib today in his city of Delhi 141 years after he left it forever? Check it. Anis Ahmed, a nursing home assistant, came from Okhla Vihar area, about 10 kms from the venue Ghalib Academy. The Mehfil e Kalam e Ghalib at the academy adjacent to Ghalib’s mazar in Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin was scheduled to start at 6 pm on 21st February but actually started at 7 pm, with one-fourth of 120-chair hall still empty. The Basti has several thousand Urdu speaking residents.
The Mehfil wherein ghazals of Ghalib were presented with music was organized on the occasion of 41st Foundation Day of Ghalib Academy and 141st death anniversary of Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib.
Various performers including Zubair Nizami and his team, Aruna Jaiswal and his team presented different kalams of the poet Ghalib.
