New Delhi: The Delhi State Council of All India Youth Federation today organized a protest march on Parliament Street in New Delhi against the price hike and the anti youth economic policies of the Congress-led UPA Government. The protestors burned the effigy of the UPA-2 Government and shouted slogans against price hike and the government’s economic policies.
Activists of AIYF Delhi gathered at Jantar Mantar at 12.00 and from Jantar Mantar they marched towards the Parliament Street, where they burned the effigy of anti-people economic policies of UPA-2 Government. After the protest, they launched a Banner Signature Campaign against the price hike.
AIYF protest which later converted into a public meeting was addressed by Mahesh Rathi, National Secretary AIYF. Rathi blamed in his speech that economic policies of the government are the real and main reason for the price hike. He also criticized the Globalization concept of development. He said the government is claiming the high growth rate of GDP but the youths of the nation are losing their jobs at fast pace.
AIYF also demanded enactment of National Urban Employment Guarantee Act, removal of ban on new recruitment in government and PSUs, creation of National Youth Fund for employment generation, provision of unemployment allowance and ban on the appointment of retired persons in government services.
Others who addressed the meeting included Yogender Verma, President Delhi AIYF, Sanjeev Rana, Mohd. Ikram, Ameeque Jamaei, Kalimuddin and Anand Sharma.
