The kidnappers called up the girl’s industrialist father in the afternoon and told him to pick Mehak from the railway station. However, the kidnappers did not demand any ransom from the family, the police claimed.

“On getting the call, I called police and we immediately left for Ambala railway station. We found Mehak standing outside the station. Although she is frightened, she is all right,” said Jastej Singh Chinna, the girl’s father.

Chinna is an industrialist, who owns a factory in Mohali’s industrial area.

According to police, Mehak, a resident of Phase 10 here, was playing in the garden of her house with two other kids when she was kidnapped.

District police chief Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said, “We are verifying the call details and we have also got some clues about the whereabouts of the kidnappers.”

However, highly placed sources in the Mohali police said the family has paid a ransom of Rs.10 lakh to the kidnappers, but police are not disclosing it at the moment.
