A division bench of Justice Vikramjit Sen and Justice Manmohan Singh Friday stayed the contempt proceedings against B.B. Bajaj, an executive engineer of west zone in MCD.

The court also issued notice to the civic agency and the complainant and directed them to file their response by April 22.

The single bench of the high court had last week passed the order against Bajaj for contempt of court.

The court was hearing a petition demanding action against MCD officials for violating orders regarding survey of a building in Rajouri Garden.

“The MCD was to find out the load bearing capacity of sun shades (in the building). Instead of carrying out inspection, it asked for a report from the owner of the building itself and washed its hands of the inspection. It is clear non-compliance and violation of the court’s order,” the court said.
