New Delhi : After a foggy weekend, Delhiites woke up to a relatively clear Monday morning. Meteorological officials attributed this to the light showers that the capital had Sunday. But the chill persisted, with a cold breeze adding to it.
“The heavy fog cover has lifted from Delhi and the visibility has improved considerably to above 1,000 metres. This is mainly because of the rain yesterday,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Until Monday morning Delhi received 1.6 mm of rainfall.
“The fog will however return over the next few days,” the official added.
The minimum temperature recorded Monday morning was three degrees above the average at 9.6 degrees Celsius. The maximum is expected to hover around 19 degrees Celsius.
Abhilasha Sharma, a student said: “It may not be foggy like yesterday or the day before, but the biting chill is definitely there. The icy wind literally pierces you and besides everything else, I have had to wrap my nose and ears with a woollen scarf to shield myself from the cold.”
