By TCN News,

New Delhi: The central and state governments must act swiftly to curb the widening injustice in the country and adopt inclusive development policy, demanded Suhail K.K., National President, Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), in a press conference today in New Delhi.

As the Suresh Tendulkar report has revealed, more than one third of the population of our country is in poverty. This exposes the duality of the propaganda of ‘stunning achievements of development’ of India. Despite the increase in GDP, starvation deaths and farmers suicide are increasing day by day, said Suhail adding that globalization has proved itself to be synonym to impoverishment as wealth of nation is being concentrated to few hands.

“All the recent issues including demands of new states and Naxalism are strong indicators of deepening social injustice in our country,” said SIO president at Press Club of India announcing the launch of a nationwide campaign ‘Students Voice for a Just World’ by his organization. He expressed hope “the campaign will be a strong resistance of the student community against social injustice in our country.”

He also expressed concern at commercialization of education in the country. “In a poor country like India, education is suffering from commercialization. Our Government should not treat education as an industry. After government allowing foreign direct investment (FDI) in key sectors such as telecom, food processing and even retail, our human resource development minister Kapil Sibal is strongly in favor of allowing FDI in India’s education sector. It will lead to huge commercialization of education and a cultural attack on India,” he warned.

It is high time to create awareness about the dangerous impacts of capitalistic imperialism on individual, society, culture, environment and politics in general and on students and educational system in specific, said Suhail who was accompanied by SIO General Secretary Abdur Rafiq and National Secretary Shahnawaz Ali Raihan.
