Hyderabad: While welcoming the Supreme Court order for CBI inquiry into the Sohrabuddin encounter, Hyderabad-based Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee has demanded the Andhra Pradesh government to immediately suspend the police officers involved in his murder.
The investigation by CBI in Sohrabuddin and Kauserbi murder case is a starting step towards justice. With this the criminals belonging to the Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan police would be revealed, said Lateef Mohammad Khan, General Secretary, Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee.
Khan alleged that the encounter was a contract killing by marble mafia in which some police officers of Hyderabad played key role.
The encounter was “contract killing by Marble Mafia, transaction of crores of rupees has taken place between Police and Mafia, and special plans were carved out for this murder. The police officers such as Rajiv Trivedi, L.K. Shinde, Radhakrishnaiah and few others belonging to Hyderabad have played key role in this plan. But later these officers turned into ‘witnesses’.”
“According to ‘Geeta Johri’ report five sub-Inspectors and Inspectors have been shown absconding and their names as unknown. But Civil Liberites has brought the names of those five police officers into light and those names have been given to concerned authorities as well. Because of confusing report of Geeta Johri, the Supreme Court has handed over this case to the CBI for further enquiry,” Khan said.
“With this it is clear that the investigating officers are trying to protect the killing gang of Hyderabad police and there is full support of the Congress government of Andhra Pradesh,” said Khan alleging that “There is understanding between Hyderabad and Gujarat police and illegal nexus exists between them to suppress the Muslim community in all aspects.”
He expressed surprise that the Congress-led Central Government had been stressing for CBI enquiry into the case but the state government of the same party has not conducted even departmental enquiry on the police officers involved in the Sohrabuddin murder.
“At the centre the Congress government is stressing on Gujarat government to conduct the CBI enquiry on this killing and at the state level the same congress government has not even conducted departmental enquiry on the police officers involved in the Sohrabuddin murder. The silence of Andhra Pradesh government led by congress party is a big question mark on free and fair enquiry,” Khan said and demanded suspension of the officers involved.
“Civil Liberties demand that Andhra government should immediately suspend the police officers involved in the murder of Sohrabuddin and others. The facts should be brought before people and the government should extend their cooperation in CBI investigation. Criminals should be punished for their heinous crime,” he demanded.
