Indian archery team for South Asian Games announced

Kolkata: A ten-member Indian archery team will participate in the 11th South Asian Games beginning at Dhaka from January 29.

Archery was first introduced in the South Asian Games at Colombo in 2006 where the Indian team won all the four gold and silver medals.

A country can win a maximum of two medals in each of the four events – men’s individual and team and women’s individual and team.

The Indian team will leave for Dhaka February 3. The competition begins January 5, as per an Archery Association of India release here.

The contingent:

Men: Jayanta Talukdar, Rahul Banerjee (both Steel Plant), Mangal Singh Champia (Railways) and Tarundeep Rai (Services). Coach: Ravi Shankar.

Women: Rimil Biriuly, Deepika Kumari (both Steel Plant), L. Bombayla Devi and Dola Banerjee (both Railways). Coach: Purnima Mahato.
