“Our three drivers have been beaten mercilessly by miscreants in Sumbal, Kashmir, and they are in a critical condition,” Anan Sharma, president of the association, told newsmen.

He said that “we will wait and watch the situation in Kashmir before taking a final decision on the matter”.

He said the matter has been brought to the notice of Divisional Commissioner of Jammu Pawan Kotwal, who has promised that tankers would be provided with extra security.

“For today (Friday), he said, we will watch the situation. The supplies would be sent to Kashmir tomorrow (Saturday) depending on the situation.”

The Valley is under curfew and the army is patrolling most parts of it to maintain order. But miscreants have still been defying the curfew and targeting the tankers with stones.
