Jyoti Singh died Monday at the King George’s Medical College (KGMC) here. She had got the virus “somewhere in south India where she had gone on a tour”, state Principal Health Secretary Pradeep Shukla told IANS Tuesday, adding that it was an “isolated case”.

“We have equipped all our district hospitals with sufficient stocks of the swine flu drug and also made it available at common medical stores,” he said.

“While the testing facility is available only at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), certain private pathology laboratories too have come forward to undertake the test,” he added

Lucknow Chief Medical Officer A.K. Shukla said: “The patient was on July 9 admitted to a private hospital in Barabanki from where she was sent to the Lucknow medical college. Her samples confirmed HINI at the SGPGIMS following which she was put on the necessary treatment. However, despite the best efforts, she died on Monday.”
