Trendspotting in parliament: Gandhi sketch stands out

By IANS,

New Delhi: A Congress MP had Mahatma Gandhi ‘backing’ him in parliament — literally. His kurta with an outline sketch of ‘Bapu’ at the back was indeed eye-catching.

Vijay Jawaharlal Darda stood out in the Rajya Sabha on Day One of parliament’s monsoon session thanks to his pale yellow khadi silk kurta. It had a black outline sketch of Gandhi at the back and ‘Satyameva Jayate’ written on the front in Hindi.

Interestingly, Darda forgot the customary handshake with the Chairman Hamid Ansari after the latter administered him the oath as member of the upper house.

Another person whose clothes caught the eye was Madhya Pradesh MP Chandan Mitra. He flaunted a designer Bengali-style silk dhoti and kurta.

Whites, however, dominated the scene and the evergreen khadi remained the preferred choice for the MPs.
