Bengaluru: The hearing of the anticipatory bail plea submitted by PDP chairman Abdunnasir Ma’dani has been adjourned till August 3 by the Karnataka High Court. Justice N Ananda adjourned the hearing on the request of the public prosecutor HS Chandramouli for some more time to file objections.
Ma’dani, 31st accused in the Bengaluru blast case, submitted the plea in the Karnataka High Court as an earlier plea was rejected by a Bengaluru fast-track court on July 9 on grounds that there was ‘no prima facie case’ to grant the bail. The hearing was adjourned to today when the case was considered last Thursday on the request of Government pleader Balakrishna who appeared for the prosecution.
The first hearing on the plea took place in the High Court on July 15. The Court asked the prosecution to submit the objections to anticipatory bail on July 22. When the case was taken up on July 22, the prosecution asked for more time and so was adjourned to July 29.
The First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate has extended the time limit of the non-bailable arrest warrant issued against Ma’dani to August 3.
Ma’dani, chairman of Kerala’s People’s Democratic Party, was named in the additional chargesheet of the Bengaluru blast case as the 31st accused. The chargesheet reportedly accuses him of taking part in the conspiracy for the blast. Ma’dani has pleaded innocence in the charges against him. He has also expressed his faith in the judiciary and willingness to accept the decision of the court of justice. Cultural leaders in Kerala have come up demanding justice to Ma’dani and against framing him in false cases.
