New Delhi : The capital saw a pleasant start to the week Monday with a light drizzle in some parts of the city bringing the maximum temperature down eight notches below the average, the weatherman said, adding that more showers were expected Tuesday.
“Parts of Delhi recorded a light drizzle today (Monday) and more rains are expected Tuesday,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The rainfall was, however, recorded only in traces until 5.30 p.m.
At 33 degrees Celsius, the maximum temperature recorded Monday was eight degrees below the average. This made for the coolest June 7 in the last five years.
The minimum temperature Monday was 27.6 degrees Celsius.
Ashwin Sharma, an office goer, said: “The pleasant weather has been such a blessing. For a change, instead of being desperate to sit inside an air conditioned room, I felt like going out during the day today. I just hope the weather remains the same for the next few days at least”.
Similarly Ashima Dey, a student who had to go to Delhi University to buy an application form, said: “The weather was absolutely perfect to go out. I hail from Kolkata and I have heard horror stories of Delhi’s summer…but today the weather was on my side.”
For Tuesday the Met department has forecast the minimum and the maximum temperatures to hover around 28 and 35 degrees Celsius respectively.
