Kochi: It can’t be said now if PDP chairman Abdunnasir Madani would be charged in the Bengaluru blast case, said Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Shanker Bidri. The investigating team is examining the file related to the blast. Talks are going on whether more persons should be included in the chargesheet or not.
The Bengaluru police had last day questioned Madani and wife Soofiya in Kochi. And rumours that Madani is accused in the case also came up.
The primary chargesheet against the 26 persons, including 10 Malayalis, was filed at the Bengaluru Third Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on May 20, 2009. The prime accused Thadiyantavide Naseer and his relative Shafas were caught after this. And several persons have been questioned in Kerala and Karnataka following the arrest of Naseer. There are also reports that a special court to be set up by the end of this month would look into the trial of the blast case.
Meanwhile, Abdunnasir Madani yesterday stated that neither he nor his wife was involved in the Bengaluru blast case. He added that certain people were trying to deliberately harm him. Three officers from the Karnataka police along with some policemen of Kochi had questioned him and wife for about 20 minutes. He added that he had no information whether the Bengaluru police had added his name in the list of accused or witnesses.
The People’s Democratic Part y has decided to oppose the attacks against Madani politically. The move to trap Madani and family in the case is politically motivated. What happens now is a follow-up of the Congress-league-BJP campaign against Madani during the last general elections. Things are again coming up when there is another election on card, said CK Abdul Azeez, PDP leader.
