Abu Dhabi : A staggering 41,470 illegal residents were arrested in the UAE between January 2009 and March 2010, the interior ministry said.
During 2009, 30,443 illegal residents had been arrested, Lt. Gen. Nasser Al Minhali, the ministry’s under secretary for naturalisation and residency affairs, said Saturday.
Al Minhali urged the people and employers not to assist the illegal residents.
The UAE has a population of over 8 million.
