The Pune court has asked Samad to give his address and mobile phone details to the investigating officer. He has also been told that he cannot leave the country without the court’s permission. His passport has to be deposited with the investigating officer.

Samad, who is in judicial custody, had approached the sessions court earlier this month, seeking bail in connection with the arms case on the grounds that there were no serious allegations against him.

Seeking his bail, Yesterday Samad’s lawyer Mubin Solkar, said to the court that there wasn’t a single reference to Samad in any of the case papers and that the ATS had not produced any material on the basis of which they suddenly arrested him last month from Mangalore Airport.

After the argument the Judge S L Pathan had reserved the verdict till next day and finally he granted the bail today.

After the completion of documentation, Abdul Samad is expected to be released tomorrow.

The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad had arrested Abdul Samad from Mangalore. Acting on a tip off from intelligence agencies, Samad was arrested Mangalore’s Bajpe airport shortly after he arrived from Dubai on 25 May 2010.
