Patna : Six railway employees have been suspended after it was found that they had shielded those involved in a fake railway ticket racket in Bihar’s Munger district, officials said Saturday.
The officials of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) were suspended late Friday night, a railway official said.
“The officials were shielding the people involved in the circulation of fake railway tickets across the country and were collecting Rs.15,000 per month for it,” the official said.
Railway sources said the involvement of railway officials in connection with the issue of fake railway tickets came to light during the interrogation of railway booking clerk Ajit Kumar after his arrest in Munger May 29.
A police team seized fake railway tickets worth Rs.36 lakh, 76 punching machines and a passbook with a deposit of Rs.57 lakh from him.
“A diary recovered from his possession contained the names of the RPF and GRP officials,” the official said.
