Muslim United Front demands roll back of price hike on petroleum products

By TCN News,

Patna: Describing the Friday night hike in prices for petroleum products including kerosene and cooking gas as a cruel joke with the poor already burdened with inflation, Muslim United Front president Abu Qaisar demanded the Union Government to roll back the hike. “In the interest of common people, the centre should withdraw the price hike,” Qaisar said.

“The ministerial panel’s decision to increase prices of petroleum products like petrol, diesel, LPG gas and Kerosene is unfortunate and anti-poor. The central govt decision is a cruel joke with the poor people who are already burdened with inflation and are not meeting both ends regularly,”

The Central Government yesterday lifted control on motor fuels and slashed subsidy on kitchen fuels to check losses of state-run oil companies. With the hike, petrol will be Rs 3.50 dearer, diesel Rs 2, kerosene Rs 3 and a cylinder of cooking gas Rs 35 dearer. In Patna, one will have to shell out Rs 53.19 for a liter of petrol, Rs 39.62 for diesel, Rs 356.15 for cooking gas cylinder and Rs 12.32 for a litre of kerosene.

It is sure that the hike in petroleum products will push food inflation further northward.
