Patna: To increase the presence of minority communities in state police forces, the Bihar Government yesterday announced to start coaching centres in different districts to help minority youths to crack test for recruitment in security forces. The candidates will be coached for both academic and physical tests. The move though good could be termed as an electoral announcement to woo minorities before the assembly elections to be held later this year.

Making the announcement at a press conference in Patna, Bihar state Minister for Minority Welfare, Mr. Shahid Ali Khan said that a large number of youths from minority communities appear in the test held for recruitment in security forces but due to lack of guidance they fail. The decision to open coaching centres has been taken to provide them with proper guidance to crack the test and thus increase their number in police forces.

According to the scheme, the centres will be started in nine districts of the state — Patna, Ara, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Siwan, Motihari, Sitamarhi, Samastipur, Kishanganj — wherein aspirants will be given both physical and academic trainings for two months.

State government has granted Rs. 1.26 crore for the scheme. Every centre would have 200 candidates and the government will spend Rs. 7000 on each candidate. The candidates will be selected by a state level entrance test which will be organized by Maulana Mazharul Haq Arabi and Persian University, Patna.
