New Delhi : Delhi will soon launch a 24X7 call centre and a dedicated website to help foreign tourists during Commonwealth Games which would provide them all possible information about Delhi so that they are not exploited by touts.
“We would have a website of international standard which will give information to tourists about rooms under the bread and breakfast scheme, budget hotels, information about radio taxi service and Metro routes, key Hindi words, top restaurants and other information,” Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation’s (DTTDC) managing director Rina Ray told reporters on the sidelines of first tourism conclave here.
The website will also have information about authorised tour operators and monuments to be visited.
“We will also have a 24X7 call centre. With these, the foreign visitors would be able to plan their complete programme before leaving their country,” Ray added.
The two-day conclave that began here Thursday was jointly organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the DTTDC.
Ray said: “We are aiming towards empowered tourists who can plan their trip safely. Since they would have all the information, visitors will not fall prey to touts and middlemen.”
She added that the Delhi government was also planning a two-week long cultural fiesta that would be organised parallel to the Oct 3-14 Games.
“We want everyone in Delhi to celebrate, to take part and to take pride in Games,” she added.
