New Delhi : Vietnam wants to boost its strategic relationship with India, its leaders have told the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).
Vietnam’s ruling Communist party has asked the CPI-M to keep promoting the multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries “in the framework of their strategic partnership”, the Vietnamese media reported Thursday.
Communist Party of Vietnam leader Truong Tan Sang made this appeal to CPI-M politburo member Sitaram Yechury, who is now in Hanoi to attend a three-day seminar.
Truong praised “the Indian government, Communists, people … for precious assistance offered to the Vietnamese people in their struggle for national liberation and the current national construction and defence cause”.
The seminar has been organised by Ho Chi Minh Institute of Public Administration, the CPI-M said.
The CPI-M has enjoyed close ties with the Vietnamese Communists since its birth in 1964. The Vietnamese stood by the Indian Marxists during an era when China and the Soviet Union shunned the CPI-M.
