New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia offers quite a few interesting options to students interested in pursuing foreign language courses. Apart from offering options such as French, Arabic, Spanish and many others, the University also offers quite a few unique options such as Pashto, Turkish, Uzbek, Kazakhi, and Kyrgyz among others.
The students interested in pursuing these options can opt for certificate, diploma and advanced diploma courses offered by Faculty of Humanities and Languages, Centre for European and Latin American Studies (CELAS) and MMAJ-Academy of Third World Studies (MMAJ-ATWS).
While the Faculty of Humanities and Languages offers options such as Arabic, Persian, Kazakhi, Turkmenian, Pashto and Turkish, the CELAS has on offer courses in French, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Catalan. Also, the MMAJ-ATWS gives students the possibility to study Uzbek and Kyrgyz.
These language courses not only offer career options in translation, interpretation etc but also give access to archives and sources in these languages for pursuing academic research.
To cater to the increasing demand of foreign language courses in India, Jamia invites Application Forms for admission to the following courses for the academic session 2010-11. These courses are open to general public, students and researchers.
