Hyderabad:Maulana Azad favored modernization of Madarsa education in spite of having some disagreements with Sir Syed Ahmad Khan on the way this needed to be carried out,said Mr. Mohammed Ali Rafat, I.A.S.
Mr. Rafat was speaking at 2-day national seminar on the topic “Maulana Abul Kalam Azad -Educational Architect of Modern India” at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad.

At times the first education minister of India was also a critic of the traditional Madarsa education system, Mr. Rafat added.
The IAS officer highlighted the fact that Azad was a product of Madarsa education system but he was also the architect of modern and technical education in the country.
Mr. Rafat pointed out that Azad introduced the system of education in the country which is being followed till date.

Addressing the seminar Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof. Mohammad Miyan said sufficient work has not been done on Maulana’s life and contributions.
“Though very late but at least two years back, his service in the field of education was given somehow justice by declaring his birthday—11th November—as ‘Education Day’ in the country by government” said the VC.
Today was the concluding day of this seminar on the life and work of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad organised by the Department of Education and Training of the MANUU.
