“Only 3 deaths have been reported from swine flu in the week ending November 7, all from Rajasthan,” a health ministry statement said.

The western state is witnessing the largest number of infections, with 18 out of the total 30 cases being reported from Rajasthan. All the cases were indigenous in nature.

Five cases were reported from Maharashtra, and two each from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. These states were the worst effected ones this year.

A total of 2,714 swine flu deaths have occurred in India since the diseases broke out last year, the statement said.

The spread of all types of virus and bacteria weaken in winters, as they need heat and humidity to propagate, experts said.
