New Delhi: Parliament was adjourned for the day Tuesday — the 13th successive day when both the houses closed without transacting any business — as the opposition relentlessly pursued its demand for a parliamentary probe into the 2G spectrum allotment.

Soon after the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till Wednesday, opposition MPs took a protest march from the Parliament House to Rashtrapati Bhavan to meet President Pratibha Patil.

Carrying placards and demanding a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the alleged 2G spectrum scandal, the non-Bharatiya Janata Party opposition party MPs were shouting slogans “We want JPC”.

They said they would urge President Patil to intervene and ask the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government to accept their JPC demand.

Speaker Meira Kumar in a bid to break the logjam in parliament will meet political parties over lunch.
