Hyundai’s September sales jumps 14.2 percent, highest ever

New Delhi : Country’s second largest car manufacturer Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) posted its highest ever domestic sales in September, a 14.2 percent jump to 31,751 units.

“The domestic sales accounted for 31,751 units as against 27,803 units in September, 2009, while the exports dipped by 24.3 percent from 25,999 units in September, 2009 to 19,690 units in September, 2010,” company said in a statement.

The total sales last month stood at 51,441 units as against 53,802 units in the corresponding period last year, registering a decline of 4.4 percent.

The company expects to consolidate further with the launch of its new i10 and the upcoming festive season.

“Hopefully the festive season will further consolidate the growth. The launch of the new ‘next gen’ i10 should further strengthen our position in the compact car segment,” said Arvind Saxena, director, marketing and sales.

Cumulative sales figure for last month saw the A2 segment, which includes the best sellers like Santro, i10 and i20, reporting sales of 46,673 units, while the sedan’s A3 Segment of Accent and Verna stood at 4,752 units and the premium A5 segment of Sonata Transform at 16 units.

In August, the company reported a jump of 17.21 percent in sales at 28,601 units in its domestic sales as against the same period of 2009.
