New Delhi: South Africa waged a grim battle against an inspired Trinidad and Tobago for a 5-3 win in a pool B men’s hockey match of the Commonwealth Games, here Friday.
It was South Africa’s second win in three games and it took them to the second spot behind New Zealand who also have six points but a superior goal-difference. For the Caribbean outfit, it was their third consecutive defeat, but their best performance yet.
Two goals by Gareth Carr and one each by Lance Louw, Justin Reid-Ross and Paton Taine set up the South African win while Wayne Legerton (2) and Kwandwane Browne kept Trinidad and Tobago in the match.
