Kalipada Chakraborty and Sukumar Chakraborty of Kilia village were dragged out of their house late Sunday and shot dead, said Purulia Superintendent of Police Rajesh Yadav.

“Several Maoist posters claiming the responsibility were recovered from the spot. The posters said the brothers were given capital punishment for acting as police informers,” Yadav said.

Meanwhile, the Maoists also put up posters in Jhargram town in West Midnapore district threatening two police superintendents of the district.

The posters read: “West Midnapore Police Superintendent Manoj Verma and Jhargram Police district Superintendent Praveen Tripathi are carrying out atrocities on innocent tribal people. Their names have featured in our hit list. We are giving them warning, otherwise they will be eliminated.”

Later, police personnel tore off the posters.

Maoists are active in West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia districts.
