Unidentified men lobbed a crude bomb from a moving vehicle at a bakery in Tura market.

“This is an act of cowardice by miscreants. The government will make every effort to investigate the attack and nab the culprits,” Sangma said.

Though no militant group has claimed responsibility, intelligence agencies suspect the involvement of the Garo National Liberation Army (GLNA).

Home Minister H.D.R. Lyngdoh told IANS from Kolkata on telephone that he had asked police to investigate the incident to find out who the attackers were.

Security forces had launched a massive combing operation in Garo Hills to rescue a transport official and his driver who were kidnapped by the GNLA Sep 30. Their whereabouts are still unknown.
