In a programme organized by Indian for Justice, Teesta Setalvad, prominent social and legal activists expressed the need to challenge the Allahabad high court verdict in the Supreme Court and said, “Our country is moving from Secularism to Majoritarianism which is dangerous for our democracy and for plural society.”

“Judges are the human beings and so they get influenced with the prevailing situations. We must stand against all the wrongs and injustices if the truth is in our side than no one can stop us. But we have to be polite and be careful with our language because the communal forces are strong in this country and now they have penetrated in the administration and courts too” Teesta Setalvad, advised.

Remembering Baba Lal das, the Mahant of Ram Chabutra in disputed structure i.e. Babri Masjid, Seesta said, “The Allahbad high court verdict has seal the judgment of Baba lal das that Ram Mandir issue is not about Ram but it’s a political movement and the their aim is to spread venom against the Muslims and pull them to the second grade citizen.” She also called upon every secular citizen to act against this judgment legally without any violence.

Anand Patwardahan, a renowned documentary film producer has made a film “Ram ke Naam” where he has quoted Baba lal das and also collected and documented most of the document related to the issue. Seesta asked, “Everybody must watch that film to know about the issue.”

Teesta Setalvad, also warned that we seculars and specially Muslims has to keep a close eye on each and every aspect of the case to get true Justice. Like she said Baba lal das’s security were taken off and he was killed, an IAS officer who was bringing file related to the demolition of babri masjid met with an accident and all those files are missing but we kept silent.

She went on quoting Sri Krishna commission report and said that no one agitated against the promotion of those 31 officers who were pronounced guilty by the commission She said, “We never spoke against all these small but very important incidents as far as the court cases are concerned.”

She insisted the need of reading the judgment very carefully and said, “out of 8000 pages I have read 2500 pages but haven’t found the mention of the letter written by the Prime Minister Jawahar lal Nehru and then home Minister of the country asking the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh to act against keeping idol in the Babri Masjid.”

She also reminded that no criminal cases were filed on the basis of Liberahan commission report.

Senior Journalist and the editor of Urdu daily Sahafat, Mumbai, Hasan Kamal explaining the conditions of Muslims after the verdict said, “We were shocked, angry and more so frustrated. We don’t know how to react to the situations but we will never accept this verdict.” He also affirmed that we must go to Supreme Court to stop the communal forces in the country and to validate our secular constitution, the constitution of Baba saheb Ambedkar.”

Farid Khan of Indian for Justice informed about the incident in Pakistan where Muslims claimed on a Guruduwara that it was built on a mosque was rejected. He said, “The theocratic nation like Pakistan stop this kind of Injustice and lend its hand to the minorities than why can’t it happen in Secular India.”

Farid Khan also mentioned that Bangladesh government repaired, from their own funds, all the Temples which were devastated after the Babri Mosque demolition.

Kishor Jagtap of Awami Bharat claimed that the Allahbad chigh court’s verdict is based on faith rather than facts. He demanded Reservation in the Judiciary because Brahmins have captured the judiciary also. He asked, “Brahmins were always the servant of Mughals , why they didn’t remember the Ramjannambhoomi then?”

Teesta Setalvadd, Hasan Kamal, Maulan Mehmood daryabadi, Syed Athar Ali, Zubair azmi, Feroz Mithiborewala and others gathered here to ponder over the Ayodhya Verdict.
