Bangalore: Two men, identified as Umar Farooq and Ibrahim Moulavi have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the 2008 Bangalore bomb blasts.
Moulavi (48), a cleric was arrested by Karnataka’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Friday night from Kasargod district in Kerala. Farooq was arrested from Ajmer.
Bangalore police claims that the two had an important role to play in the blast but no evidence has been presented against them yet.
A series of accusations and charges have been made against Moulavi. According to the police, he was behind Ernakulam Collectorate bomb blast in July 2009, besides being responsible for the recruitment of youths for militant activities in Kashmir.
The police have filed chargesheet against the duo.
The serial blasts in July 2008 had left one killed and 20 injured.
