New Delhi : Denying charges of corruption levied against him and his family in the Commonwealth Games expenditure, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sudhanshu Mittal Wednesday said he is being made a “political scapegoat”.
Officials of the Income Tax Department Tuesday conducted searches in the premises of Mittal and others who won lucrative contracts for the just-concluded Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games.
“On the total CWG expenditure of Rs.77,000 crore, my company did business worth only Rs.29 lakh and now I am held as the fountainhead of corruption. Is this fair?” Mittal asked, saying that he was ready for a probe.
“I have just been made a political scapegoat,” he said, adding that “I am very disappointed that the media launched a campaign against me without any verification”.
