Mr Saleem refuted the reports that Muslims were going away from the party. The CPI (M) is trying to uplift Muslims socially and politically whereas others including the Congress saw them as only vote banks. The AMU decided to open its off-campus centres in six places in the country. Kerala and WB are the two among the three states which have decided to take measures for it. He asked what the Muslim League, sharing power with the UPA, had given the community. The UDF has made baseless alliances with caste and communal organizations in the state, he added.
