Nitish opens purse for madrasa, minority teachers

Patna: The Bihar Government yesterday decided to recognize 2460 madrasas after proper enquiry from Bihar State Madrasa Education Board. After recognition, madrasa teachers will get salary equal to primary and high school teachers in the state.

In the last meeting of his government, the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also took another big decision by allowing pension scheme for teaching and non-teaching staff of minority colleges in the state.

Besides madrasas, 300 Sanskrit schools have also been recognized. These madrasas and Sanskrit schools had been waiting for recognition for last 26 years. Meanwhile, the cabinet has relased Rs 108 crore as grant for teaching and non-teaching staff of madrasas.
