Moscow : Over 400 demonstrators suffered injuries Tuesday in clashes with police in Yemen’s southern province of Taiz, the Al Jazeera TV channel reported.
There have been so far no reports of deaths in the violence, which comes a day after at least 10 people were killed when security forces opened fire on protesters in the city, RIA Novosti reported.
Violence between protesters and supporters of Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh also occurred in the capital Sana’a. The Yemeni defence ministry said three people were killed and 15 were injured.
On Monday, a Xinhua report stated, at least 16 protesters were killed in Taiz during clashes with police, while dozens of others were injured by tear gas shells and bullets fired at them.
Over 120 people have been killed and about 5,000 injured since the protests inspired by uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt broke out in Yemen early February.
President Saleh, who has ruled since 1978, announced a state of emergency in Yemen March 18.
