The eight members of the India-Pakistan judicial committee Tuesday visited Malir jail and met 253 Indian prisoners to expedite the process to release them, the Daily Times reported.

The committee, which has four retired judges each from Pakistan and India, will make recommendations regarding the Indian prisoners in Pakistani jail and submit these to Islamabad and New Delhi.

Saeed Baloch of the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum handed over a list of 15 Pakistani prisoners who are lodged in Indian jails for the past 15 years.

The committee also met 37 Indian prisoners who could not be released since the past five years as India had not yet verified their identities. Some of those prisoners said they had cast their votes during elections.
