New Delhi : India’s food inflation rose marginally to 8.76 percent for the week ended April 16 compared to 8.74 percent recorded in the previous week as fruits, fuel, meat and poultry products became costlier, official data showed Thursday.
The index of primary articles rose to 12.08 percent for the week under review compared to 11.96 percent in the previous week, according to the data released by the ministry of commerce and industry.
Fuel price index moved up to 13.53 percent from 13.05 percent in the previous week.
The following are the yearly rise and fall in prices of some main commodities that form the sub-index for food articles:
Onions: 10.96 percent
Vegetables: (-) 0.21 percent
Fruits: 28.43 percent
Potatoes: (-) 1.61 percent
Milk: 5.10 percent
Eggs, meat, fish: 12.14 percent
Cereals: 4.49 percent
Rice: 2.08 percent
Wheat: 0.48 percent
Pulses: (-) 6.49 percent
