Compared to last year event, IFF members started working on this project a month before Ramadan. Kabeer Palakad, Iftar get-together Convener, said all the people were transported from Batha and New Senayah to the Istiraha, the venue of the Iftar in Al-Hair, in their own cars and in mini vans.
“Food was prepared at the Istiraha kitchen by our own volunteers and it was a great challenge to cook food for 3000 people and serve them at Iftar time. Alhamdulillah, we did everything as per schedule and served hot food to the people, right after Maghrib prayer“, Kabeer said.
“We have also been successful in giving a core message about Ramadan as, “The Month of Victory” which is un-heard of, for many of us. Muslims achieved great victories particularly in this month throughout the Islamic history,” he said. Post-Iftar a speech was given in four different Indian languages – Kannada, Tamil, Urdu and Malayalam.
Forum officials who contributed to the success of the Iftar party included Kabeer, Ilyas, Yusuf, Aziz, Ashraf, Saleem, Moinuddin and Jalal all from Kerala; Fayaz and Rafiq from Tamilnadu; Basheer and Nasar from Karnataka; Javed from Andhra Pradesh; Syed Ali from West Bengal; and Shamshad from Uttar Pradesh.
