One sentenced to death for Pakistan attack

Islamabad : One man was sentenced to death and four were given life sentences Saturday for a 2009 attack on the Pakistan Army headquarters that left 23 people dead, Geo News reported.

A military court found seven men guilty of the Rawalpindi attack.

The man given capital punishment was identified as “Dr Usman”. Those sentenced to serve life sentences included an accomplice, former soldier Imran Siddiq, and three civilians.

Two others were sentenced to seven years each in jail.

The 23 dead included 11 soldiers, three people taken hostage by the militants and nine of the attackers.
