Islamabad : Pakistan lags in providing broadband services, a meeting here has been told.
The meeting on upgrading the country’s telecom sector was chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari here Monday, Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
Secretary IT and Telecom Saeed Ahmed Khan said grey channels were causing significant revenue losses to the telecom sector.
The meeting was told the existing mobile phone services were based on second generation technology and Pakistan was lagging behind in broadband services.
Over 85 percent of the operators in the world have deployed 3G technologies due to their better coverage and faster data transfer abilities.
