“We recommended that he (Hazare) get admitted in hospital but he refused saying that the movement was going on,” said eminent heart surgeon Naresh Trehan, who along with his team of doctors is monitoring Hazare’s health.

“He slept well last night, his condition is better. But yesterday’s blood test showed ketone (particles created by the body during starvation) levels are increasing and all parameters are now deteriorating,” Trehan said.

“We suggested an intravenous (glucose). He first agreed but then said that his conscience was not allowing him and refused,” he said.

Hazare, 74, has been asked to drink a lot of water and told not to take on any strain. “The result of blood tests will come by noon, then we will know if increased fluid take has stabilised the condition or not,” Trehan said.

According to a health bulletin issued by the doctors, Hazare’s blood pressure is 140/80 and pulse has increased to 82 per minute.

Hazare’s weight fell by 200 gm while the sugar level reached 106.

“Blood samples have been taken, anything can be said only after the report comes,” Team Anna member Manish Sisodia told reporters.

Till Tuesday, the activist had lost 5.5 kg.

The 74-year-old Hazare has refused to be administered glucose drip.

An all party meeting has been called Wednesday afternoon to find a solution to the issue. According to highly placed sources, it has been decided that a final decision will be taken only after the meeting.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had written to Hazare Tuesday expressing concern over his health.

Hazare has been drinking only water since Aug 16, when he started his fast.

Hazare was arrested Aug 16 and taken to Tihar Jail. He was released the same day, but he refused to come out. He shifted to Ramlila ground Aug 19 where he has been continuing his fast.
