The Nanavati Commission must cooperate with Sanjiv Bhatt

By Sayema Sahar,

Sanjiv Bhatt, the whistle-blower cop of Gujarat, has written a letter on 15th December 2011 again to the Nanavati Commission, requesting it to provide him with the following requisite and relevant information/records/documents, which would help him to bring out the truth of the government of Gujarat for complicity in the state-sponsored carnage of 2002.

Sanjiv Bhatt should cooperate with the commission in its investigations, is what we hear all the time. Yes, he must, but the vice versa is equally important.

The Commission should and must cooperate with Sanjiv Bhatt in providing him with an access to whatever relevant information/documents/ records he has been asking for. The relevance of the documents has also been explained to the commission by Mr. Bhatt.

The Nanavati Commission from the very beginning has shown reluctance to get to the bottom of critical communications between those in power, those in responsible positions of law enforcement and administration and key accused who guided the 2002 carnage. It all appears to stem from a calculated design to shield, not punish, the guilty.

The commission has shown studied unconcern earlier also to various pleas and requests of IPS officer Bhatt to provide him with an access to the information which would help the enquiry.

Witnesses have with tremendous courage and dignity testified to the truth which the Commission clearly wants to suppress by not responding to their requests.

Sanjiv Bhatt has been so clear and loud about information he is privy of, but the commission does not seem to be paying any heed to what he has to say. In the words of Sanjiv Bhatt, ‘I can tell the Nanavati Commission that (about what he has said in the affidavit) and much more because I was privy to much more.”

Let him speak! Provide him the support he is seeking to bring out the truth of 2002 carnage!

In the letter written to the to the Secretary, Hon’ble Justice Nanavati & Justice Mehta Commission of Inquiry, Mr. Bhatt has urged the commission to examine himself, Narendra Modi and retd IPS officer R.B. Sreekumar jointly on oath in the interest of justice and fair play.
