After ‘fratricide’, Sanjeev Bhat, RB Sreekumar end their feud

By Sayema Sahar,

Ahmedabad: Responding to the appeal of IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt for a ceasefire, ex DGP of Gujarat, R.B. Sreekumar has written him back with equal compassion to end the confrontational communication between the two in the ‘larger interest for justice.’ Writing an e-mail to Mr. Bhatt on December 30, 2011 Sreekumar wished Sanjiv Bhatt well and extended his earnest support in his ‘fight for truth and justice for the riot victim survivors.’

The confrontation between the two Gujarat cops had started after Sreekumar did a U turn and in a letter to the Nanavati Commission, denied that Sanjeev Bhatt had ever worked as a staff under him. Sreekumar had also alleged that Bhatt maintained silence for over nine years on the post-Godhra riots because of an “ulterior motive” and for “avoiding clash of interests with the state government”.

R.B. Sreekumar’s letter to Sanjiv Bhatt, Date:Friday,December 30,2011,12:00 AM

My Dear Sanjiv Bhatt,

I wholeheartedly welcome your proposal for ending our confrontational communication. Certainly the whole affair was very very painful for me also, as I never did nurture any ill will towards you, who is citing a brave battle against the enemies of syncretic symbiotic traditions of our Motherland, negating the letter, spirit and ethos of our Constitution.

Hereafter let us not do anything to undermine the faith of riot victim survivors on us. You can certainly expect my earnest support to all your efforts towards truth and righteousness.

My prayers to God to bless you and your family.

Profound regards,

Yours fraternal soldier against the Evil,

R. B. Sreekumar
