Has BJP stalled Parliament to secure release of Amit Shah?

By TCN Staff Writer,

New Delhi: India’s main Opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party stalled entire Winter Session of the Parliament, and now trying to do the same with the Budget Session, demanding constitution of a Joint Parliamentary Committee to probe 2G spectrum scam, and resultantly wasted huge sum of public exchequer. But is a JPC probe the real demand of BJP? No, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has hinted. Stalling the Parliament was BJP’s bargain tactic to secure release of a jailed minister of Narendra Modi cabinet in Gujarat.

Amit Shah, former Gujarat minister and a close confidante of Chief Minister Narendra Modi, is cooling his heels behind bars for his role in the fake encounter deaths of Sohrabuddin Shaikh, his wife Kauserbi and their friend Tulsiram Prajapati.

“The BJP has taken a very hostile attitude. Parliament is not allowed to function. In private they say you (the PM) have taken a decision against a person who was a minister in Gujarat. You must reverse it or . . .” PM Manmohan Singh has been quoted as saying at an interaction with editors of select news television channels at his residence on 16th Feb 2011 in New Delhi.

The reputed Tehelka Magazine says that after making the above statement, the PM paused and looked distinctly uncomfortable. He then said, “I don’t want to say further.”

The CBI is probing the abovementioned fake encounter cases in Gujarat. The federal investigating agency has filed case against Amit Shah and put him behind bars. Shah has been charged with murder, kidnapping and extortion.

The BJP wants that CBI withdraw the case then the party will allow the Parliament to function. This is evident from what the PM disclosed. And perhaps this is also the part of pressure tactic that the BJP has of late been very aggressive against the PM personally.
