By Md. Ali, TwoCircles.net,

New Delhi: Rejecting rumors of the AIUDF alliance with AGP and Congress, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal president of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) announced this evening that in the coming assembly election in Assam, his party will fight alone.

Talking to TwoCircles.net, the lone AIUDF MP from Dhubri said, “AIUDF will contest on its own in 86 seats and expects to get a minimum 50 seats.” Interestingly the assembly election in the state is slated to be in May 2011 and the code of conduct will be implemented from 1st of March.

Mr. Ajmal warned the Congress party of its attempts to weaken the AIUDF through its “dirty” politics, “I strongly warn Raquibal Hussain, the Forest Minister in the Congress government in Assam that it’s high time that he should leave his attempts to weaken and divide the AIUDF by manipulating honorable Maulana Arshad Madani.”

In the wake of coming assembly elections in Assam, a lot has happened in the politics of the state lately. The state unit of Jamiat Ulema Hind (Arshad madani faction) which was headed by Ajmal, was dissolved two weeks back by Arshad Madani, allegedly after Mr. Madani was lured by the Congress party through its minister Raquibal Hussain. Since then the distance between Arshad Madani and Ajmal has gradually been increasing with Ajmal reportedly switching his loyalties to Mahmood Madani faction of Jamiat Ulema Hind.

Mr. Ajmal said, “The fact that they (leaders from Congress party) are trying to weaken AIUDF shows that they are scared of its expectedly excellent performance in the coming assembly election.”

The latest political barb at Badruddin Ajmal came few days back when during a function in a madarsa, Arshad Madani alleged that Badruddin Ajmal took 55 Crore from the BJP two years back. Ajmal in turn condemned the allegation as “baseless and defamatory.”

Mr. Ajmal alleged that Mr. Arshad Madani was trying to weaken the AIUDF by helping the Congress just because he wanted to take revenge as Ajmal had voted against Arshad Madani supporting Vastanvi in the election for the vice chancellor of Deoband, in which Vastanvi won.

He further said that, “If Mr. Arshad madani continues to malign his image then the party will take him to court on the charges of damaging my reputation and will slap him fine worth ten thousand crore rupees.”

When TCN asked Mr. Ajmal why he didn’t attend yesterday’s Shura meeting in Deoband convened to decide the fate of Vasanvi its current vice chancellor, he replied that he didn’t want to associate himself with the politics which was being done on the name of Deoband.

Mr. Ajmal replied diplomatically to questions on his stand on Vastanvi being a Modi supporter, that he didn’t want to say any thing as these things have become things of past.

But he expressed his support of the decision of the Shura to constitute a three member team to conduct an enquiry into Vastanvi’s statement supporting Narendra Modi soon after becoming Deoband’s VC and his alleged act of gifting a Hindu idol or picture to a minister few years back.
