2-day Career Fest-2011 begins in Mumbai

Mumbai: On-the-spot jobs, workshops for undergraduates, 60 career stalls, counselors for different fields, role models to inspire and guide talk shows, career exhibitions and an Echo Friendly Education Kit – all are available under one roof at this mega career mela.

It’s Career Fest-2011, of which Urdu Times and Twocircles.net are Media partners, being held at Saboo Siddique Engineering College in South Mumbai on Saturday and Sunday.

Mr. Narendra Jadhav, member of Planning Commission and National Advisory Council, Dr. Baseer Ahmed, Ex-Pro-Vice chancellor, IGNOU, Dr. Zaheer Qazi, President of Anjuman-e-Islam, Anis Ansari, IAS, attended the inauguration function on Saturday.

Anjuman-e-Islam, a leading educational institution for Muslims in Maharashtra, Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP), All India Ideal Teachers Association (AIITA), Urdu Markaz and Leap India have joined hands for this multi level and versatile programme.

Shanul Syed, BE, Civil, is a Managing Director of Abeed Construction, an associate of AMP, was glad to see that their hard work has resulted in such a great event. He said, “Nearly 10,000 students might have benefitted.”

To call the students from nook and corner of Mumbai is not an easy task. It requires networking and continuous follow up. Shanul said, “We invited 300 schools and placed 100 hoardings in Muslims dominated areas. We also held Principals’ meets sent SMSes, mails to reach target audience, we also in partnership with schools provided 50 buses to ferry the students.”



Twocircles.net Stall at Career Fest-2011

AIITA, a teachers association, has been networking with the schools, introducing career fest, pursuing and facilitating students to come to the Career Fest-2011 and volunteering in this 2-day event. Kazim Akhtar, MA, M.Ed, General Secretary of AIITA, Mumbai said. “We are mainly volunteering for the two-day event and earlier worked for the awareness of parents in the schools.”

Syed Najeeb-ur -Rahman, who heads a software company, is the Public Relations head of AMP. He is happy to serve the community. “We are grateful that we got this opportunity to serve the society. We have been through this phase and understand what we have missed therefore making this humble effort for the future of our country,” he said. He also feels that when these students will grow up they will definitely give it back to the society.



Saboo Siddique College of Engineering

Talk show with the Ideals and Role Models was an impressive concept. Amir Edressy, President of AMP said, “We like to inspire and motivate students through the meet with the role models, who are not very extraordinary but have a humble background and achieved something in their life, also we expect these role models to work for the society.”

Wajid Ansari, now M.Sc. and Masters in Marketing Management, failed in twelfth standard. Shahana Khan, Ph.D. in Botany, is a topper and gold medalist, and now a lecturer. She wanted to be a doctor but failed to get admission in a medical college.

Ms.Yasmeen Ansari, Master of Social work, her father was a tailor and mother could study till 3rd standard had seen many ups and down in her life, is now working for YES Bank. She got only 55% in Twelfth Standard from science then she opted for Arts stream and got selected for USA, UK and other country as a bright student.

Imran Khan, Managing Director, Western India Metal, said, “Success is not equal to money; it might be a part of it.” To highlight the importance of Education he quoted the Prophet of Islam Muhammad PBUH that “You must go even if you have to travel from Arab to China to learn and get educated.”
