Nay Pyi Taw : Myanmar’s Foreign Affairs Minister, U Nyan Win, attended the Association of South East Asian Nations (Asean) Foreign Ministers Retreat and Special Meeting of the Asean Co-ordination Council (ACC) in Lombok, Indonesia, from Jan 15 to 17.
On Jan 16, at the retreat, the foreign ministers exchanged views on international and regional issues and cordial discussions were held on Asean Community Building, modalities of Asean Summits, East Asia Summit and the Asean Community in the Global Community.
During the retreat, U Nyan Win explained the positive developments of Myanmar in the present post-election era.
In their discussions on Myanmar, the Asean foreign ministers welcomed the positive progress including the successful holding of the multi-party democracy general elections and they stressed the need for countries which imposed sanctions on Myanmar to respond to those developments and lift their sanctions against the country.
At the concluding session of the retreat and the Special Meeting of ACC on Jan 17, they adopted the Terms of Reference of Asean Connectivity Co-ordinating Committee and exchanged views on the follow-up to the recommendations of the High Level Task Force on Asean Connectivity.
U Nyan Win and the Indonesian Foreign Minister Dr R.M. Marty M. Natalegawa, on Jan 15 held cordial bilateral discussions on Asean-related matters and the strengthening of bilateral relations and co-operation between the two countries.
In Jakarta, the minister met Myanmar Ambassador to Indonesia and Permanent Representative of Myanmar to Asean, U Nyan Lynn.
