Patna: Coming out of their slumber, leading Muslim organizations, at the call of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, today sat and decided a joint action plan to ensure justice to the victims of Forbesganj police firing. It was first such meeting attended by the representatives of all top Muslim organizations on the issue. They have been criticized for their cold response to the gruesome firing which took lives of four poor villagers of Bhajanpur in Araria on June 3.
The groups have formed an adhoc committee on Forbesganj firing. The committee to have members from all eminent Muslim groups will take up various aspects of the case including compensation to the victims and legal action against the erring officers involved in the killings. Eminent social activist and journalist Nayyar Fatmi has been selected as convenor of the committee.

Today’s meeting was attended by representatives from Imarat Shariah, Idarah Shariah, Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind (Mahmood Madani group and Arshad Madani group), Momin Conference, Bihar and host Jamaat-e-Islami Bihar besides several eminent social activists and journalists.

The house took several unanimous decisions. A high-level delegation of the Muslim groups will visit Bhajanpur in Forbesganj on 15th July to instill hope and confidence among the broken and terrified residents of the village. They will hold a joint mass protest and dharna in Patna to highlight the injustices to the victims. The house also decided to send a delegation of Muslim organizations to the Chief Minister of Bihar. Besides, it was also decided to seek help of legal activists to ensure legal battle is foolproof.

Earlier, initiating the discussion, Bihar president of Jamaat-e-Islami, Mr Nayyaruzzaman expressed sorrow at the cold response of Muslim organizations on the issue. He said the issue has come to light and got national attention only because civil and human rights activists and section of media highlighted it. He specifically mentioned TwoCircles.net for the wide and consistent coverage of the firing issue.
